Take an Adventure in Downtown Kent
The Department of Recreational Services at Kent State University is pleased to offer a new canoe and kayak livery at John Brown Tannery Park in downtown Kent. This facility, named Crooked River Adventures, provides students and members of the Kent community with a new form of recreation and leisure.
Offering two easy-to-navigate trips along the Cuyahoga River. No experience needed. Each trip is limited to 10 people. Must check in 30 minutes prior to departure for a safety briefing. Return transportation to Tannery Park provided.
• Participants must be at least 3 years old to use a canoe and 8 years old to use a kayak
• Dress appropriately. You will most likely get wet. Shoes must be worn at all times
• Crooked River Adventures may cancel any trip…severe weather or abnormal river conditions
Biking Options
In addition to its two paddling options, bicycle rentals for use along local trails are offered. $5 per hour. Bikes must be returned by 8 PM. Please call in advance.

The Adventure Center has received statewide recognition for is award-winning boating program from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft.
The livery emphasizes key educational components to its patrons, including safety and the “Leave No Trace” philosophy, which suggests ways that patrons can reduce their impact on the local environment.
